The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 March the International Day of Forests (IDF) in 2012. This day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests. On each International Day of Forests, countries are encouraged to undertake local, national and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns. The theme for each International Day of Forests is chosen by the Collaborative Partnership on Forests. The theme for this year is Forests and Biodiversity.
Since we are not in condition to celebrate this day as it deserves, the least we can do is to join the conversation on social media using the #IntlForestDay hashtag, pass on some of this year’s key messages or take a photo of your favorite forest and share it with us and your friends or share the logo and posters available on 13 languages on official Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations website.
